Paris

“Paris” is my longest running series which I started in 1988 while studying there.  It was a time of great discovery for me.  Working on my photographs forced me to explore alone, something I was somewhat reluctant to do at first.  At a time of my life when I was young and self involved, I pointed my lens out and saw the beauty of the city, its buildings, sculpture, art and people.

I travel back to Paris as often as I can and still love to photograph the city.  One thing I see on many of the bridges are Love Locks.  Locks appear all over the world but especially in Paris.  While some dismiss them as graffiti, in this case scarring a culturally historic bridge, others look at them and just see romance.  In 2013 I photographed Pont Solferino very early on a cold January morning where the locks appear bright and jewel-like against the soft winter scene in the background.
