Spring’s Promise

“Still—in a way—nobody sees a flower—really—it is so small—we haven’t time—and to see takes time…”

— Georgia O’Keeffe

Often my days are hurried. When I remind myself to slow down, my gaze observes what is around me. I see the grace of nature that is otherwise is glossed over. My goal with this series is to capture particular instants when nature takes on a subtle abstraction. In these photographs the subjects are fragile and temporary, yet they are captured in timeless stages. As the leaf or blossom moves in the wind and blurs, I maintain a glimmer of focus while the background softens, becoming a wash of color.

I am happy to show new work that I captured in April 2021. I have titled the series “Spring’s Promise.” Spring felt remarkably different this year and the delicate grace and ephemeral beauty of these trees filled me with the spirit of beginnings. As natures emerges so do we and I wanted to evoke the delicate magic of this transformation.
